We have seen cupcakes become the most popular wedding dessert in recent years, and we’ve seen the rise of doughnuts. This trend has also led to the rise of the doughnut wall, which is a stunning backdrop for displaying your sweet treats on your big day.
It’s not only for weddings. Since the first doughnut wall was popularized, we have seen them become a staple at many events and parties. They look great and are easy to make. Try it out and wow your guests at the next event!
There are no rules when it comes to creating and decorating your doughnut wall. You can make something unique, regardless of the theme or style of your event.
You will need the following items to get started:
-Wooden Peg Board, cut to size
-Wooden Dowling Rod (cut approximately 2 inches in length).
-Wood Glue
-Paint Color of Choice
Additional decorative items (such as MDF letters and bunting)
Top Tip – If you don’t have any pegboards, MDF can be cut to size and drilled with holes approximately 5 inches apart.
After having all the craft pieces together, it’s time to start the crafting part. Apply glue to the end of the doweling rod and place it in the hole on the pegboard where you want to position the first doughnut. Keep the glue in place for 45 degrees until it sets. Next, repeat the process for the rest of the board.
If you want to add MDF letters or other decorative items to the end, leave enough space between each peg.
After the glue has fully set, you can paint the wall in your preferred color and add any decorative items. It’s that simple!
Three Tips to Style Doughnut Walls
You can display your doughnut wall by adding complementary cake stands positioned at different levels and painted to match the kitchen roll holders. These will allow you to stack more doughnuts on top.
Instead of spacing doweling rods equally apart, why not use them instead to spell out words or initials or form a picture after the doughnuts have been placed on them?
Do you need more space? You can have more. You can store one doughnut on the 2-inch doweling rods. However, if you wish to stack them, make sure they are longer.
Add a quote! Although the word “Doughnuts” works well, this is an opportunity to add personality to your table. Why not try a funny quote? These are just a few of the many that could be perfect: “All you need is love and a doughnut”, “‘Hole’ Lot Of Love”, and “Doughnut Worry, Be Happy” would all work well.
For a personal touch, finish off your wall with homemade doughnuts.
